Who we are
Pickleball Tracker (listed on the App Store as "Pickleball Tracker: Shot Stats") is made by AppHouse. This policy explains what the app does with data on your devices. It applies to the iPhone app and the companion Apple Watch app. AppHouse's umbrella privacy policy at apphouse.co/privacy also applies; where the two differ, this page is the more specific description of this app.
What we collect
We collect nothing. Pickleball Tracker has no user accounts and no backend. The app does not include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or any other third-party SDK, and it makes no network requests to AppHouse. We cannot see your matches, your health data or anything else the app records, because it never leaves your devices.
Data the app stores on your devices
To work, the app keeps the following on your iPhone and Apple Watch:
| Data | Where it comes from | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Match records | Score, match format (singles or doubles), duration, and the shots the watch detected with their type and swing speed. | Apple Watch, synced to your iPhone. |
| Profile settings | Display name, playing hand, age, speed unit. Entered by you in the app. | Your iPhone, mirrored to your watch. |
| Heart rate and active energy | Read from HealthKit during a match for live display and workout summaries. | Apple Health and the match record on your devices. |
| Awards and weekly activity | Derived from your own match records. | Your iPhone. |
Your display name is a label you choose for your own stats and share cards. It is not an account and is not sent anywhere.
Apple Watch to iPhone sync
Match data moves from the watch to the phone using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework, which transfers data directly between your own paired devices. It does not pass through AppHouse. Apple's handling of this transfer is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
HealthKit
With your permission, the app:
- Reads heart rate and active energy from Apple Health while a match is being recorded, to show them live and summarise them afterwards.
- Writes the finished match to Apple Health as a workout, so it counts toward your Activity rings and appears in the Health and Fitness apps.
HealthKit data is never shared with anyone, is not sent off your devices by the app, and is not used for marketing, advertising or any purpose other than showing you your own match. You can withdraw HealthKit access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.
Motion sensors
The watch app uses the accelerometer and gyroscope to detect shots and estimate swing speed. This processing happens on the watch itself. Only the resulting shot events (type, time and speed) are kept in the match record; the underlying sensor stream is discarded.
The app includes a developer-only mode that is off by default and hidden from normal use. When a user deliberately enables it, raw motion recordings can be stored on the device to help improve shot detection. Those recordings stay on the device and are never uploaded; they leave the device only if the user explicitly exports them through the iOS share sheet.
Photos
The app asks for "add to Photos" permission only when you choose to save a share card. This permission allows the app to add that image to your library; it does not grant the app access to read your existing photos. Sharing a card through the system share sheet does not require any Photos permission.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings → Data → Clear All Matches. This permanently deletes every saved match and session from the app on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Workouts the app already wrote to Apple Health are not removed by this action; delete them in the Health app if you wish. Uninstalling the app also removes all app data from your devices.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and, since it collects no personal data and has no accounts, we knowingly hold no information about anyone of any age.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, for example by adding a feature that sends data off your device, we will update this page and the effective date above before that version ships.
